Happy Thursday, Smoky Mountain Lovers!

Every fall, the famous Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, in Gatlinburg, TN, hosts a Veterans Day celebration. This year is the 11th annual free-admission Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration, and will again be at the Ripley's Aquarium Plaza. Come by at 11:00 am on Monday, November 11, to enjoy a military aircraft flyover, patriotic music, recognition of veterans in attendance, remembrance of fallen comrades, and words from notable veterans.

The entire Veterans Day weekend is available at  The Wears Valley Chalet at SmokyMountainViews.com,  but that's a popular weekend, so you'd better book quickly if you'd like to stay at this gorgeous cabin. Stay a full week and get one of your nights free, with the code Go7OneFree!

If you're coming into town on the Sunday before Veterans Day, we have availability for you at The Gatlinburg Lodge at SmokyMountainViews.com.

Happy Tuesday, Smoky Mountain Lovers!

Can you believe we're in the 43rd week of this year? Makes me think I'd better start Christmas shopping. But back on topic, I'd say fall colors here are in the first week of peak, which should last into the first few days of November. (So aren't you glad the shutdown is over and we're back in the park?)

The weekend starting Friday, November 1st is still available, at  The Wears Valley Chalet at SmokyMountainViews.com (where the photo below was taken), and since that's within the next 12 days, you can use the coupon code Flash25 to receive 25% off your stay! You can also book a stay within 2 days of the current date and get 50% off with the code Flash50.

At The Gatlinburg Lodge at SmokyMountainViews.com, the same discounts apply, except your 50% off offer can be up to 6 days away, instead of just 2! The code for 25% off within 12 days is Flash25Gat. The code for 50% off within 6 days is Flash50Gat.

Select a 7-night stay, and use the coupon code Go7OneFree to drop one of the nights from the price.

It gets even better, though: we're offering this deal on both of our cabins! Use the code Go7OneFree for the 28-guest Gatlinburg Lodge at SmokyMountainViews.com , or for the 5-guest Wears Valley Chalet at SmokyMountainViews.com.

The photo on the left shows where you can spread your Thanksgiving feast (you'll also find a counter with bar stools, tray tables, card tables, a picnic table, etc.). The photo on the right shows where you can watch the game on a big-screen HDTV and bask in your turkey daze.

Happy Tuesday, Smoky Mountain Lovers!

We promised to let you know immediately when any change came with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Well change has come -- the park is reopening tomorrow! Through contributions from the state government as well as from Blount County and our own Sevier County (that's where Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are), the park will open Wednesday through Sunday. Governor Bill Haslam commented, "The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is America's most visited national park, and for the Smokies and the people around it, the month of October is the most important time of year. I remain hopeful that an end to the federal government shutdown will come this week."

We'll keep you updated on any new developments, but the park will be open starting tomorrow.
